View Full Version : XP's weird network connections

This one has me baffled... I use an internal (pci) adsl modem for my Internet. it's installed and runs just fine, usually connecting at 6-7Mb/s. The strange thing though, in my Network Connections, the modem is listed as dial up isdn 64k!

The only effect of this appears to be that when I use an application that requires an Internet connection, such as AVG update, or Quicktime installer, I get the message that no Internet connection is detected. (In the case of the AVG update, I manually download it).

A screenshot is here (http://www.hostnz.co.nz/images/screen2.gif) (80kB)

PS - I set up the connection using the New Connection Wizard - perhaps I should have used Network Setup Wizard instead? ?:|

Let me have a look at our ADSL settings, I will post back here latter...

here is the same screen as yours (http://sal.neoburn.net/imagef1/?grab=ADSL.png) ( 66.9 KB)

Note this is on a Jet Start ADSL(ISP: Quicksilver), I am guessing you are on a faster plan (Speed: 6.7 mbps Compeer to my 6.0 mbps)

If you are on the same plan (Jet Start) try “56K digital”

If you change it to the above, it may solve your problem

Hope this helps
