i know i have been here with this before...
anyway...

i have 1200 photos...
and yes some are the same..
and 2nite am in the mood for some tidying out and cd making..
and want to make a cd or 2 of with all my photos...
but i dont wanna do this when i know theres identical photos...

is there anything...apart from me wading thru them 1 by 1 and using my memory...to detect identical photos...not from name..but from picture...detect that the photos are 100% identical in the picture not name..

i know theres software for name identicals

if theres nothing with capable of doing this....can i have some ways/ideas of being able to do it?

In my option, the best way is wading thru them 1
By 1 and using your memory :)

That is what I do when I have a lot of images/ files to sort

I know that is not the eased way or the quickest way, but then you do not need to worry about deleting an image you donít have on that CD :)

Hope this helps

In Windows Explorer turn on Thumbnail view if you have it - this will help as you won't have to open each individual photo :o)

Hi there
This is probably a bit late, but if the files are the same size, you can use jv16 Power Tolls to track down duplicate files (the same size) and delete one of them.

Very good advise Mary.
Chris, with thumbnail enabled, go to "view" and click View > Arrange Icons > By Name............. This will show up every duplicate which will make deleting copies a breeze. Absolutely NO NEED to download a program which will probably confuse you.

Dupdetector - great thanks.
I have several folders (about two dozen) of different categories of craft photographs. I ran DD and it found many duplicates with different names which I had downloaded at different times and often renamed for ease of finding.
Note though that the match criteria can be set. At 80% (apparently a default level) it thought that pictures in a developmental series, each only marginally different, were identical and it would have been easy to simply click on delete. At 95% it recognised the difference in the sequences. Nice tool.

Hey Chris if you havent already found a program to sort out your duplicate photos? Try clonespy (http://www.clonespy.de/english/)
Ive just tried it & I was very pleased with the results & its free.

Hope this helps
