Following repair, which I think has been successful, I have encountered another problem while booting up.

It now says: one of the driver is corrupt,
system32\driver\pci.sys you can attempt to fix this by starting windows setup from the original cd-rom... select "r"at the first screen to repair, what does this mean?

So what do I do, pressing "r" while computer starts up is no use. Do I insert the XP Boot/Setup disk?

Many thanks

It is wanting you to run the repair again. You will need to insert your Windows XP disk, restart the pc and at the prompt press "r".

UPDATE:

My WinXP CD-Rom is not bootable, therefore I cannot boot from it.

Should I install a new windows OVER the current one?

Thanks,
