I have a laptop with a USB mouse and external USB floppy drive. Can I plug these devices in while the laptop is running?

I know that to unplug certain items you double-click the system-tray icon and 'stop' the devices, but cannot find any info about plugging them in.

(Sorry for the dumb question).

USB won't mind you plugging things in while the system is running. That's what it's designed to do. :D The "stopping" is needed for disks, so that all buffers are written out and directories are tidied up.

The floppy drive should appear as a drive. The mouse might be a problem ... a Windows problem. Windows doesn't like PS/2 mice not being present at boot time. But it won't do any harm ... try it. :D A laptop with a horrible stalk in the keyboard is supposed to work with "both" if both it and an external mouse are connected.
