I have W 98 and Norton System Works.
I visited Norton to update virus database.
Next time switched on computer message was : "Please wait while set up updates your config files. This may take a few minutes".
Now I can't get past that message.
Any help greatly appreciated.

if that happens after installing new updates then don't worry its only the updates being installed. (some require to be installed when windows isn't running)

Thanx for your answer - perhaps I wasn't clear: - my PC blocks with that message on screen and won't run at all.

I'm a bit unsure. I'm doing this from UK for my son in Auckland.
Original W 98 but unclear on ver of Norton.
Downloading update from Norton site.

I would try closing Norton SystemWorks first of all.. secondly I would suggest you use LiveUpdate to download the updates :-)
