View Full Version : Can't See My Win2K Compoota!

I have 3 computers on a P2P network, two running Win98SE and one with Win2K.
Network is set up, all machines can see each other. Internet sharing is enabled through Win2K beast and works fine. LAN Games run well, etc.
Problem is I can't get into the drives or the printer on the Win2K machine from those running Win98. The drives and printer are shared, but when ever I click on the Win2K machine in Network Neighbourhood, it asks for a password. I don't have one set, and can't find where to set it. Same when trying to set up the printer from the Win98 machines.
Have tried logging on as administrator but to no avail, where is this elusive password? What have I missed? Running out of hair to pull!!

Is the shared drives password protected? You may have to add the users on Win98 to Win2k so it can verify the users. Firewalls are configured correctly and allowing the file sharing port?

W2k is a bit fussy on security. For you to access resources on the W2k machine, you will have to make user accounts on that system for each of the other machines.
