I must lead a sheltered life I think. :O

How is it that so many people get wound up about their ISP? Isn't the equation simple? You pay the bills, you log on, you surf. Are there any ISPs out there so under-resourced that you can't get a line in two or three attempts?

The only dial-up I have is Freenet and it connects first time every time at the same speed. I use it regularly though most of the time I connect via jetstream/xtra.

There has to be a story or two behind this somewhere. ?:|

Cheers

There are many isp's with a poor customer-to-modem ratio.

Try infogen for awhile.

I could also swear that customers in main centers get preference(but that would probally be slander)

I expect a connection on the first dial-up,and i expect a constant reliable connection.

Many isp's fail in these and a number of other area's.

There has never been any problem at my end,but i have experienced sparodic service from a number of different isp's.

Ihug gave us 54K connection every time.. Try removing your extension leads if you have any..

If you cant actually get connected, or are still not happy, get ADSL!

when i said try infogen,i was quoting them as an example of a poor isp,not as a recomendation to try them,

Just thought id clear that up,it doesn't read how i meant it to.

Besides which, infogen only provide there (non)service to a smallish portion of the population.

Well, my ISP has started billing me an exorbitant amount for hosting my domain and cut Domainz out of the equation and if I don't like it I have to move. Net result, about $100 per year. Hassle to move? Way more than $100 worth of time. Short and curlies type situation. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
