Hi all, :8} looking at buying a new HDD. The one I'm looking at is the Seagate 40G 7200. I need help with the Identification of the HDD as I don't want a Barracuda 1V 40G as I hear (from this forum) that these models have a high failure rate. So I would like the Barracuda V if possible.

"Barracuda 7200.7" is this the 1V

You'll probably have to inspect the drive personally to know if it's the drive you don't want. Although you'll probably be safe and not get a IV (four) you'll possibly get a newer one which is probably the one they are speaking of 7 (VII), it's just roman numerals for the numbers.

Hi Kame, so do you think there will be a good chance thats its not a Barracuda four?

Call them and find out :P

It's the simpliest way, they'll go out back look on the seagate drive and see if it is or not, if it is then you know you don't want that one.
