Most people say that NiCAD batteries have "memory" effect, but some say NiMH batteries have same effect while others say they do not.
Do all NiMH batteries have the "memory" effect? I'm so confused!

No, they don't have memory effect, and for that matter, neither do Nicads.

Neither battery type likes abuse, so if you treat them right, they will treat you right. I got 15 years out of a set of nicads in a portable vacuum cleaner, and 18 years out of a set in a Philips shaver.

Some Nicads I neglected dropped their bundle inside of 2 years.

Battery life depends on correct charging (and discharging).

Nicads have a "memory" for want of a better term if they are not properly looked after. Partal discharge and recharge and you will find that you get less and less active time out of a set. Best to keep NiCads as a set as well so all in a set get equal discharge and recharge times.

We use rechargables of various sorts in a lot of the camera gear (both still and Tv) that we have and providing proper care is taken they will return the favour.

Here is a web address for a company site that gives lots of information about batteries. I found it very informative.
