In case you haven't realised, this is music related.

I want a program that you can use to workout the Beats Per Minute (BPM) of songs.

I currently have one, but it works on the basis of tapping the space bar for each beat - and I'm worried about my space bar getting over used.

Does anyone know of any programs that do this? I don't mind if you have to press a key (though I would prefer a much more obscure key, one that you don't use often, such as the 'Pause/Break' key; though I would prefer one that works with no input, so it analyses a song and works out the BPM - though I'm not sure how accurate those are.

I'd be inclined to do a google search on the song and see what you can find out.

Winamp's AVS plugin will show you, its under settings->beat detection.

Although like all automatic ones it isn't perfect.

Umm count the beat yourself for 10 seconds and multiply by six... or for more accurate count for thrity seconds and times by two...

Mechanical or computerised counters are unlikely to be terribly accurate

They're inclined to be "terribly accurate". That's has always been a problem for people who believe computer output, which can be wrong to many decimal places. :D
