Can anyone tell me if in practical terms the speed of a USB Printer is incresed by a computer supporting USB2 as compared to a computer supporting USB1.
Thanks

In a nutshell:

Nope!

Quite simply the speed of a printer will always be printing at lower speeds than USB 1.x can push the data through :-)

Cheers

It depends on whether the printer is USB 2.0 compatible.

I think what Chill means, is that the printer cannot physically print faster, than the info coming into it by the USB port.

UNLESS (just to conntradic everyone ;-) ) you have large amounts of USB devices that are chewing up all the usb's bandwidth then going to usb2 could help.

Well, If you're gonna buy a 4 way adapter for USB, then you'll suffer the consequences of going the cheap way with it...

Thank you everyone.
I have purchased a USB2 printer, and was just trying to find out if when purchasing a new computer, which I intend to do, it is necessary to purchase a printer with USB2 support. The one I am looking at at present supports USB1.
