Hey everyone, just wanting to source some help from you wonderful people.

The situation is that I have a machine that is running windows 98 on it and I am having major problems with the quality of pictures etc and things on the desktop they have heaps of lines through them and overall the quality is shocking.

When i got into my display options it has only got the option for 2 colours and 16 colours instead of 32bit etc.

Is this a problem with the graphics card or can someone suggest something else that I can do to enhance the picture quality?

Cheers everyone.

Two things to try, as it sounds like your graphics driver is not loaded correctly or corrupted. Download the latest version of the video driver and install (preferred) or go into safemode, delete the video adaptor under the harware TAB and restart PC. It will find a new device and load the driver that it finds most suitable.
