I am using Windows XP Pro and now have six restore points saved. Do these take up hard disc space, and can I delete all but the the most recent? If so how?

Unfortunately yes they do.

It is not wise, because you might have a problem with your computer & if you delete all of them then you cant go back :)& if you only have 6 six restore points that is not much.

Are you running low on Hdd space???

Yes they do take up space, but only to a certain amount, after which the oldest is deleted. If you are happy your PC is 100% , then turn the restore off, restart, and turn the restore back on and make a restore point. By turning off restore, it deletes ALL points.

right click my computer, click on system restore and set the 'disc space to use' bar to 2% or so to use less space and I think increase performance while also having a restore point or 2

Hello Barbara,

windows holds a percentage of your harddrive for the system restore.
you can see how much by right clicking 'my computer' click 'properties, and the 'restore' tab. you can alter the amount of hard drive here, if you wish.

You can leave one restore point, and clean out the rest by the following:
click start, all programs, accessories, system tools, and disc cleanup.
wait for it to load, then click the 'More options' tab.

At the bottom under the 'system restore' heading, click the cleanup button.

cheers,

Robby
