Can someone please tell me which is the best & easiest free MP3 encoder/ripper to use. I can't seem to encode MP3 files to wave files to burn CD's in the new version of Winamp.

Gidday,

if you are running XP, media player 9 does a pretty fair job of burning music cds.

cheers,

I find that CDex does everything well and pretty easy to use.

If you're after encoders, I use LAME - Do a google search.

Its faster than the Blade Enc, but doesnt have as many config options.

can you convert 128kb/s to 320 kb/s with that encoder? I think burning MP3's to a cd with tracks at 128kb/s don't sound as good as the original cd but 320kb/s might.

yes you can BUT it would be pointless. it will only sound as good as the original 128 did. mp3 is a lossy compression. basicly info is removed to make the file smaller. there is no way of adding that info back in to make it sound better. if you want a 320kb mp3 then you need to rip a 320kb from the original cd.
