hey does anyone have any gripes with the Acer/Benq 52x cd rom drive that the pc company use for their computers?

also are their clearance sales any good?
eg. do they have plenty of stock to sell?

hmm might buy some parts for my new computer while im there

Ive had an Acer 44x for a couple of years with no problems. Just remember that if they sell them as in going order, you are still covered under the consumer guarantee act. If in doubt, get them to state that on your reciept.

Wish I could get down to Hamilton for that sale... sounds quite interesting. Bound to be lots of loot there for the taking.

Well you had to be quick!! The place was crowded at opening time (10am) and there were some bargains, though why anyone would want a pallet of faulty monitors for $50, I don't know!

I went through hell with (http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/thread.jsp?forum=1&thread=22287) a Benq CDRW drive.

It is possible that they have improved. It seems that at the time i was far from alone.

The cd roms are OK. But with the writer, some had a problem with the cd drawer. Just a little warpage and it would fail. They had a bad run for a little while there.
