Can anyone advise me of free software avail. to capture video on the desktop.

ie...If on a site with video, how can I capture that video.
Screen capture I have no prob. with

You could try a trial version of Hypercam, from Hyperionics.com. Or Snagit (can't remember the site; try a search engine)

Success is patchy, tho'. I think a good many sites deliberately fix video feeds so you can't capture them.

Alternatively, if it's stored video files you're talking about, not "live" webcams, it's always worth TRYING to right-click on the link to the video and save; I have found sites where some will obediently download a file for you. (Others, particularly Real videos, will only download a "stub" which when you click on it, will reconnect you to the site and play the video again.)

And even with "streaming" video, it's worthwhile trying a Netscape browser, adjusting the cache size to huge, hanging on the site for a while, then checking the cache. I've known sites that give you hundreds of frames as .jpgs stacked in the cache.

Turning those back into a video file is another problem.
