View Full Version : Repairable dark screen display

I have a digital 15 inch monitor that has served me well. I do not want to say good bye to it unless it has truely had it's day. If it is possible I would like to put a bandage on it. Is this possible? Where can I take it to?I can still see and read from the screen.
Would it cost to much to be worth while? Your help would be much appreciated.

don't know about that particular breed but there is a VR on the board of some screens to adjust brightness and colour.
If you are not familiar with inside a monitor best you get some one who is to have a look, they can give you a nasty belt if you touch the wrong thing even when they are unplugged,

How dark is it? There is a limited range of internal adjustment available but it is pointless if the dark image is hiding other faults like poor colour or focus. Have a look at the monitor FAQs and you will find a link to a site offering monitor test patterns. the grey scale in particular will helpyou describe how dark it is i.e. how many bars are visible.

A repair shop specialising in monitors could adjust it relatively quickly and cheaply, but with no guarantees.
