View Full Version : Vid conference over a LAN

Well, Ive now got two WebCams, and Im wanting to make them LanCams.

Is it possible to use the two cameras over a LAN, as My bedroom is in a sleepout, so it could be useful.

What software would I need.. So far Ive got it going one-way in MSN, but Im not always online, so that's not a viable option.

Im about to go finish setup on the family's PC.

Any ideas

Easy and free would be Microsoft NetMeeting,
All you have to do is enter the IP address, and have it running in your taskbar all the time,

Where might I find that in XP? Would installing IE6 w/SP1 work?

You can activate net meeting by click on start, run, and enter "conf".
from there just follow the instruction to setup your account.

by da way..... u can only activate it if u have fully installed XP.

Okay guys, thanks, I went and tried running the conf file (Before I came here too ;-)) and that works. I can get them in a meeting together, only the video is being 'sent' (in the options, there's the option to send and receive, send is ticked), and is visible on the 'sending' PC, eg I can see what Im sending.

Only thing is the receive is greyed out and I cannot receive the video from the other PC, no matter which Im on, although both are sending?!

Im not online (Havent been yet) and have not set it up to log into the MS directory either.

Video is small and fast speed, over quality, What have I dont wrong?
