View Full Version : E-MAIL Attachment

An e-mail came with a .txt attacment, which I saved to the desktop, the name was ATT1.TXT and had a web-site : http://home.attbi.com/~n9ivo/whatswrong.swf, for a house with a ghost which pops up screaming.

Have tried all ways to delete the ATT1.TXT file off the Desktop, but access is denied, there is not enough disk space or it is a read only file.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ps. sending it to floppy, it can be deleted off this medium okay.

Have you still got the file open. If you try to delete a file and it is read only you usually get a dialog box asking you if you want to delete the read only file so if the file isn't open do a reboot and try again and if that doesn't work reboot into dos mode and delete it from there.

Mikebartnz, thanks for your reply, the file had created a file named ~$ATT1.TXT. Deleted this and the ATT1.TXT was able to be deleted also.

Is this what is called "snail track", what does the tildy and $ signs means ?.

Did you open the file in MS Word as it will create a temporary file with the ~$ in front of the name.
