hello all,

at another forum, we have a helpful facility from where we can upload screenshots/images if needed for the forums. i thought id be helpful, and provide such a place for those who need to show screenshots, etc when looking for help in PressF1.

PressF1 Images (http://sal.neoburn.net/pf1images/)

only images can be uploaded, and the max file size is 300KB. ill leave images there for about 2 weeks,

oh yeah, the password is 'letmeupload',

OK, now is as good a time as any to ask - what the heck does the "grtz sal, tga" mean on all of your posts? I'm guessing tga is Tauranga? I'm stumped on the rest.

Good idea, BTW.

Good idea, sal.
How will it work when people want to see an image on there once it is uploaded?? Is it obvious?

Very clever indeed! You can delete that image if you like, sal. Was just testing.
Do you want us to limit the size of anything which we upload? Should we avoid 1MB screenshots?

Good idea sal.

Might be nice to have a mention of what is and isn't allowed on the page though. Not nice uploading something, to then be told that it's not allowed.

test (http://sal.neoburn.net/pf1images/bill-gate.jpg)

I uploaded that for a test...
I totally coconfused the system as the original filename was .JPG which was not allowed

Anyway.. it passes the "can be used from a Linux browser" test... Yeehah Sal

only stuff that your gonna link to from here should be uploaded, although im expecting a few 'test' uploads :p
if you find any probs with the site, let me know please, and do respect it,

oh, what precisely is 300KB in bytes?, and do you guys think 300KB limit is enough?

Very good.

Might I suggest that a link to this be put in the FAQ - save people having to memorize the URL!?

Perhaps a useful feature for it would be this:
A dot.tx domain name
Then, when you've uploaded the pic, it displays the full URL!

Man, that's going to come in handy...

*Switches windows and hits Ctrl + D*

Good on ya :)

Sorry.. Didnt realise you've already put the name thingy there.. I was uploading as I posted :)

Are there any file-name restrictions, like not being able to upload anything but JPG, Gif, BMP and PNG?

Have you tried finding a script that will list the entire image contents of the folder just incase I get some extra bandwidth to burn and wanna take a look at all the uploaded photo's?

Okay, a few things:
I like how you cant upload over a previous image!
I tried uploading over icq.png and got an Already Exists - please rename error, looked quite nice :)

Quite good how it stops you from uploading non GID JPG/jpeg or PNG files... I tried uploading my Autoexec.bat file.. didnt work :)

What speed is the remote connection, do you know?

Im very impressed!!!

You don't find one, you make one, even you should know how to do it (though not in PHP).

It's amazing how quickly people have taken up Sals neat idea.

Now all we need is an excuse for mass usage of it.. Besides testing it out ;)

Hey Sal, that it really good of you - that will come in handy, goodone ;-) :-)

I had to give it a test run, only thing i found is my JPEG's were just that, not jpg or jpeg and so i had to change them to lower case for it to work :-)

Hey J ZEP, don't go and ride that bike anywhere near Wanganui. The local mongrel mob are harrassing anyone who rides a bike, Harley riders in particular.
