View Full Version : Hiding numbers in Excel column's

11-01-2003, 08:50 AM

I have a series of columns in an Excel document, which has one of the column's with a number in it, I wish to keep the number hidden until I insert a figure into the cell beside it, then the hidden number will show.
Also the cell with the hidden number has a formula tied to it, to pick up this number from another page/cell.

Is this possible?
I use Excel from Office 2002

Thanks for any help,

If the cells with the 'hidden numbers' are based on "FormulaXYZ", change the formula to read:

=IF(C5, FormulaXYZ, "")

where for example, C5 is the cell that will get a number entered into it. So if C5 has a number, the result will be FormulaXYZ, otherwise it will be "".

Don't think that is it Wuppo. There is already data in the cell. Problem is to hide it until condition is met.

Try this.

Assuming cell A1 contains the figure you want to hide, use the following formula in A1:

with X being the number you want to display after data is entered into B1

Hope this is what you are after

Should have tried this before my reply :D

Unfortunately neither worked :_|, I should have supplied the formula that is in the cell that I want to hide figure.

=IF(Require!$C$30=1, 2.4, IF(Require!$C$30=2, 2.7, 3))

Require is the page that the numbers are listed.
2.4, 2.7, 3 are the numbers I choose from the Require page (and wish to have hidden until I have inserted a figure into the cell next to)

Thanks again,

Just replace the X with your formula eg

If(B1="","","IF(Require!$C$30=1, 2.4, IF(Require!$C$30=2, 2.7, 3))")

Change the B1 Cell reference to the correct one.
