Every now and then my computer displays a message saying
dangerously low on resources .

Why dangerous ?
Why does it do this?
Is there a way i can fix this by clearing a cach or something?

This occurs because some programs do not release "resources" when they have finished with them.

The "resources" are a set of "pointers" in a table, and while they are held in memory its not really a lack of memory.

If you can identify which program seems to be causing the problem, try using an alternative if possible. Many of the older 16 bit probrams were bad for this. They seem to have cured the problem in XP, but it was bad in 9x and ME versions.

Try Google for some utilities, but I found these caused more problems than the cured. When I was running those Operating Systems, I just rebooted whenever the resources got too low.

A good utility is TClock, which will display the resources in the system tray.

Why dangerous? You will get a system crash when they run out.
