Anybody else having problems or am I a loner on this one?
I've tried 3 browsers and still no luck on that thread!

I've noticed that happening - thought it was just my ISP and a 56k dialup at fault though

You wouldn't be post padding by any chance? I'm sure someone said not long ago it's quality, not quantity. Or something equally thoughtful. Though those with high post counts (i.e Susan B) tend to be the ones who give the most helpful advice.

She's going to be adopting him, so I think he felt he had to live up to his mothers expectations ;)

Heheh... I'm not post padding.. merely just advancing myself while the forum is down :D

I'd hardly say that you are advancing yourself by posting repetitve nonsensical messages for the sake of upping your post count. Digging yourself a hole, perhaps; but advancing? No. I think not. (http://www.therugbysite.co.uk/postpadding.html)

Now, if you were posting something which was of interest, such as this image (http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom/NewImages/images.php3?img_id=10881) of New Zealand acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), flying aboard NASA’s Terra satellite, on October 23, 2002.... it might be OK.

Chilling_Silence

Post padding..

I love the image though, where do you guys find time to dig up this stuff :D

A compadre in the US thought I would be interested in seeing the country from a different point of view. I studied the thing for hours last night :D The big image is better than the thumbnail - I'd like to get a print of it for my wall.

That image of NZ is awesome (took a while to load over 56k but it was worth the wait).

Just one question: As Auckland is a pretty populated area, why is the entire area green?? - I mean I'm not expecting to see little black dots of everyone's houses or me waving up to some far-distant satellite, but I wasn't expecting to just see Green though

I believe it was me that made that comment. This thread is a prime example of the crap you have to wade through to find information.
Chilling don't you work at IDG? why don't you actually do work, instead of posing here every 10mins?

Chilling_Silence
10-01-2003, 11:25 AM
Okay people, Admin say it should be peachy now :-)

cyberchuck

Roofus
What exactly are you referring to when you say you have to wade through a whole lot of "crap" as you put it to find specific information? to me the thread is pretty straight foward. Up the top are the posts of others who have had problems with the forum over the last 2 days, and down the bottom are the posts where we have been "having our play".

If you were here on the forum at 7:00 like I was this morning, happily answering threads to the forum crashed, then you will know that the forum was only displaying the first 3 latest threads - and that there was nothing to reply to and help people with as no-one was posting - So I decided to have a little fun - immature of me now that I look on it with hindsight, but none-the-less it kept me enjoying the forum until it get's fixed.

Then, once the forum decided to show us a few more threads I started responding to them as well. I am not just coming in here to get my posts up (as I have stated above), I came in here to relay ideas to others - did you actually read my post where I said I couldn't read what the PressF1 error was because the Hyperlink was incorrectly done so it was refreshing to the top of the page? or did you just decide to post back and attack?

It does not matter where Chilling_Silence works and what he does - if you were his employeer then maybe yes, you could say something, however as I am not aware of you working at IDG how about you just let Chilling_Silence do his job?

Also, a reliable source has told me that Bruce is still on holiday, and so one of their other tech's were working on it (as at 11:00 NZST)

Finally, if you are attacking me, I would prefer if you did not do so in PressF1 or any other Public forum, but rather email me and lodge your problems with me that way - if you wish to do so, please inform me and I will give you my email address

Have a good day

CyberChuck

Its not really green, more grey/brown as far as I can see. Compared to the surrounding areas (or anywhere else in NZ for that matter) its pretty dull and treeless looking.

Hey, I can see at least three trees from my office! And there's Myers Park... Not quite "lush", but then not quite the treeless urban jungle of somewhere like Chicago or London.

good one cyber, you sound like chillings bum buddy.
FYI i too was on here at 7am. Replying constructively to posts. Although at that time i didn't see any problems with the forum.

I'm not really attacking the content of this thread, rather a reply placed by honylaser, and my thoughts on the whole matter.

anyway go put your gimp suit on.

Oh, c'mon. If you want to hold a debate, don't resort to petty name calling or immature insult slinging. You'll get much further by illustrating your points logically and intelligently.

Sorry if I am misreading you here, but your post was an attack on my post? Why? Care to explain?

Then I apologise for incorrectly interpreting your post, as if it was not intended as I mistook it for, then it was [once more] me making a bigger idiot out of myself then I already am.
Question: What's a GIMP Suit (doesn't think he'll fit into a Linux distro graphic's proggy)
