Recently i purchased a new computer-Celeron 1.7,256MB ram,win98 SE.
Now the problem is that my old computer-celeron 1.0,256MB ram,win98 SE totally out performs the new one.Programs open faster,Defrag is quicker,Anti Virus scanning is faster.
As an example NAV scan.
Celeron 1.0-82000 files approx 19gigs takes 29mins.
Celeron 1.7-76000 files approx 13gigs takes 47mins.
The only other main differences are that the 1.7 has onboard graphics using 8MB ram and an onboard adsl modem.
Can anyone recommend any programs to test my systems performance.

Cheers

The motherboard (chipset) plays a large part in the overall system performance. Often, 'integrated video' implies a more 'economic' motherboard.

Try Sisoft Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.co.uk) for benchmarks.

Yes i think your right.
Sisoft Sandra lists the chipset as "unknown" and suggests some of the settings are incorrect.
Thanks for the help
