View Full Version : Internet pauses after installing network cards.

Hello people, I just recently installed 2 Realtek 10/100 network cards on my 2 computers. And now when ever I surf the net, my internet just pauses, this never happened before. (what I mean but pauses is when nothing is coming from the net to the computer, you know when that small computer icon near the clock that shows whether you're on the net or not) So yeah, maybe ever 5 mins or so my internet just pauses. It doesn't disconnect, just pauses for 30 secs or so, then it goes back to normal.

So I was wondering what's happening to my computer, the other computer that I installed the network card is having the same problem. I don't really mind the pauses(well, I do sometimes :( ), I'm just worried about having missing files or corrupted files every time I download something :( . Any ideas?

I'm using Win98Se and on both computer the network card was installed on top of the modem (the PCI slot above the modem). Both computer have 3 PCI slots so both of them have the 1st PCI slot free. One of the computer is using a V.92 modem and the other one might be a V.90 modem.

Any ideas, solutions? thanks :)

My computer has similar problems. Can you explain fully what you mean with your answer? Thanks.
