View Full Version : keeping them out

Whenever I check my setup with AdAware, it seems that Doubleclick is one of the main culprits feeding me cookies.
I went to the Doubleclick site and installed their "opt out" cookie which they claim will stop more doubleclick being continually foisted on me.
I haven't checked if it works yet. Does anyone know anything about this opt-out mechanism?
Does it work? Any advantages, disadvantages etc.? Is there a better way to block cookies from selected sites?

Use third party software that munchs cookies or with IE 6 you can use the privacy internet options to block cookies.

I wouldn't trust opt-out stuff ;)

Third part software is the best way to goas Gibler says.
There are actually "hundreds" of Doubleclick sites around the world. The best way is to download a pre-written 'hosts' file which will block Doubleclick plus hundreds of other nasties. This site tells you all about it:

This site has a special anti Doubleclick program '0click', which is just a hosts file editor really:

I've got Phoenix setup to stop any cookies that orgionate from doubleclick.net, fastclick.net and popuptraffic.com are automatically killed!
I'm loving this browser more and more every day!
I just added the sites to the Dont Accept list and told it to prevent any new ones from those site!

You will be getting doubleclick stuff because doubleclick provides the fine advertisements which support this forum. :D
