I would like to start my SuSE8 install from scratch, there is a 5 gig "doze" partition, which is as useless as a useless thing as this is a dedicated linux box.
the only part i really want to keep is the /home area, which has it's own partition which i wish to keep.

can i mess with the partitions on re-install, and keep /home and its content, but toss and/or resize the other partitions?

Total disk size=80 gig
/home=20gig

If possible i would also like to double the size of /home without losing the exsisting content

Is that too difficult?
would i be better just to add a new HDD and use it as /home?

All advice appreciated, I expect to learn through mistakes, but wish to avoid going in blind.

i may still try redhat.. either way i would like to mess with the partitions and save some data on install/reinstall

All options are currently open, including tossing the 'doze partition without reformatting as such, and altering the sizes of the partitions.

I don't really know what is possible
