I have WinXP Pro, 30 GB free space, and Need For Speed High Stakes.

When i start the game, it says i have less than 1mb free space.

If i then go and unlock cars, and win races, and exit the game, it doesnt save anything, so i have to do it all over again.

here is two links about it:

I didnt quite understand it, and I dont want to muck around with my dads computer too much.

Could someone please give me some ideas, and help me fix this problem?

Thanks

If the game runs on XP without having installed the patched NFS file, you are quite fortunate.

The error message is bogus and can be ignored.
In my case it wouldn't even run until the patched file nfshs.exe (1,938 kB) was installed replacing the older smaller one.

I found it by doing a search on Google. Haven't used it much so never tried saving a game, can't comment if that bit is fixed.

The file needing replacing is in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed\
(in a standard setup anyway)
Just rename the old one with a .old extension in case you need it again. It will warn you that its not a good idea, but won't stop you.

Not actually saving games, but when you complete a hot pursuit, you get a little star next to the track, and if u get all stars u get a new car.

Well the stars, setting etc wont stay there.

My game seems to work fine if i dont put the 4.5 patch on (so far).

Its just that, without the patch, it takes, about 30 seconds to start up, and with the patch it takes about 5.
