I have an 11 year old son that wants to put up his own web site to keep in touch with friends and family, post his weekly cricket results, fav game cheat pages etc. Any ideas on where i can go to do this, has to be FrontPage compatable, without a really loooooong domain name. I know there's a few around but are there any preferences on the better ones: ie less advertising. All advice appreciated

wow, cool, i cant remember what i was doing when i was eleven, but it didnt involve making webpages! that would have been soooo fun :D

well, theres the easy option of just making an msn community,

but this involves him having a hotmail or similar acccount, and is very restrictive on what you are capable of doing, but once you get the hang of it, you can make them pretty cool, and theres extra stuff there like Message Boards, etc, that make these 'communities' more interactive

if he is already making pages with frontpage, etc, i dont know much about them, but i have heard something about frontpage extensions (again, i have no idea what they are, maybe you know more about that stuff) but i have made webpages with frontpage, and it is possible to make straight out pages, that can be used on plain old webservers.

a free webspace provider doing the rounds atm is orcon

first you have to sign up, and then you have to activate your free webspace (10 MB) from some type of member control panel once you have signed up, pretty straight forward after that

grtz sal.

You can use any free web host to host pages built with FrontPage, however you're unlikely to find one that supports FrontPage Extensions. The reason for this is that they're damned unreliable, and in my experience on the support desk of a major web-hosting company, more than half of all incidents were FP extension related.

If your worried about a loooong address, then use .tk
Its free and it gives you a short address.

eg, my website www.bloggsworld.tk
I think i started making that at 12,

I think the .tk site is www.dot.tk
