I'm looking to obtain some type software which is an automatic answer phone and fax, something we can leave running while the office is unattended at times.

We are using XP.

Can anybody help with this ?

My Dynalink external modem came with "BVRP Phone Tools" which is supposed to function as a fax/answering machine, among other things, but I haven't tried it yet.

Might be worth you investigating the availability of that, otherwise search Google for something similar.

I've seen Panasonic fax machines which include an answering machine. Are they still made? I think that if I was running a business, I would not trust any software to receive faxes and answer the phone.

Check out Winfax that seems to be the defacto standard. Symantec probably has a XP version by now.

There are heaps about. You might want to start by having a look at http://www1.simtel.net/ or even http://www.lisp.com.au/nonags/index.html

also do a google for 'call center software'
