How to recover from a bad flash on a LiteOn CDR
JustCDR has posted up a guide that instructs you on how to recover from a bad firmware flash on a LiteOn CD burner using MTKFlash and Litefirm. The guide explains step by step how resurrect a dead drive with MTKFlash and Litefirm. Here's a clip:
You'll know its hasn't been flashed right when you boot your system, the BIOS will not recognise your drive anymore, and the green light on the drive will stay lit.
Litefirm will allow you to extract the firmware from the Windows EXE firmware that can be downloaded from the Lite-On website (http://www.liteonit.com/english-load-firmware.htm), so that the file will be recognised in DOS mode.
MTKFlash will then re-flash your drive in pure DOS mode, and your drive will be alive again :) and not just work on Lite-On drives, it will practically work on any CD Drive / DVD Drive. (it can also be used to backup your current firmware as well)
Check out the whole guide here (http://www.justcdr.cc/).

I have never seen nvidia drivers available in windows update. I always update mine from the nvidia site, and even with old ones installed windows update doesn't give me the option to update it...

If microsoft does it's own version of the driver then it may be numbered differently. The sound drivers I get from win update are quite stripped down compared to the ones I get from the gigabyte site...
Maybe microsofts release of the nvidia drivers are the same ? Dunno, coz like I said I have never been given the option to dl them.
