When i get a reply in ICQ, particularly a reply from a sms (text) message the window often reads in japanese characters. This is odd, as this computer is set up in english.

Is there anything i can do to make it so that ALL icq messages are in english, even if they are replies from a cellphone?

The offending cellphone is an Alcatel, and belongs to a person who speaks only english.
My system is win 98SE on a slug running ICQ2002a

Try ICQ Lite and see what effect that has?!

I prefer Lite anyways, the latest build (Beta 1066) has a stylish look to it!

Hey, it brought back ICQ for me, otherwise, I wont use the thing!!

Anyways, try it out, lemme know how ya go

Cheers

Does it with happen with other people that the messages are sent to?

Is the phone NZ new, or was it brought in from another country?

I'm not 100% sure if this has happened from any other fone or not, but it has happened with text from this fone a few times.. it is a NZ new strait from the shop alcatel. What it sends to my cellphone is always english as well.
