Hi there, I had my PC setup as a dual-boot between W98SE & W2000, everything was working fine. My W98 got corrupted & I was prompted to reinstall W98. So when I did, NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM & BOOT.INI then got written over (in C my question is what is the best way to get those files back into C: & pointing to my D: partition allowing me to boot into W2000? Would inserting the 2000 cd & selecting repair a failed installation, ER process do the trick. I have some files in my W2000 installation & don't want to lose them! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Yeah, Reboot off of the CD, and select Repair, that should do the trick.

You could reboot off the CD and choose Recovery Console. If you type Help there you should see a command FixFBR or something like that.

Yes but does the 'repair' kill the existing installed files?
In fact my 'recovery' disk doesn't even give me the 'repair' option only 'format' hard drive'.....
don't really know how I am supposed to recover.

Recovery disk I reckon are bad news because all they do is set the system up to the way you received it so you need to make a backup of all the downloaded drivers and data before using it. When ever buying a PC try to get the full installation disks.
