Hi a while back I downloaded a file for includung support for my winmodem in Linux, this file has the extension rar. I assume this is some sort of archive file, if so what do I use to extract the encaptulated files? If this is something else what is it? Thanks.

Yep that's right. Try Winrar to uncompress it. go to www.rarlab.com to download your copy. (it's sharewhare).

If its for Linux, you'l probably want to unrar it under linux, not windows. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't, but the rar archive was initially a Unix thing.
