Two days ago I installed Cyberscrub to tidy up hard drive space. It did such a good job, now there is no System Restore date before that.
I have uninstalled the programme (too vicious for me) but now "Winservs.exe" has appeared on my start up list. I cannot remove it because it says "cannot delete as windows is using it". Since then I have had an enormous increase in pop-ups, could that be related? I operate with Win ME. Any advice, please?

Its apparently some Adware, and badly coded as well. It can hog resources.

Use AdAware (from www.lavasoft.de) which should remove it and any other adware type programs.

If it's in use, will Ad-Aware be able to remove it? I tried that with one that was in use and it came up with an error.

Try Ad-Aware, as it'll be easiest, but otherwise, you may need to boot into safe mode and delete it.

If its still in use, you'll need to boot into DOS (Scary... :p) and delete it from in there, remembering that in dos, replace names longer than 8 letters with the first six followed by ~1, so Program Files becomes Progra~1

BTW, Haven't we done this but with some sort of a mpg or avi file?
