Is the paradise news server down, or am i having alot of problems with my own network?

I cant get to any news server, with any news reader from any machine... (mumble-o-grumble) and paradise don't seem to update thier network outages pages any more.

I don't have any news software installed at the moment, but pinging news.paradise.net.nz fails.

What about http://groups.google.com/ ?

seems it's been down for about 24 hours now
odd, it's been such a good server too, must have melted down or something!

Yes you are right, no time given by "Paradise Hot Line" when it will be back to normal.

Have you tried msnews.microsoft.com

not too sure if there are anymore around.

Fortunatly i have a speaker phone... i shall ring paradise... 9:39am
"thankyou for ringing telstra clear..........
<insert rolls eyes icon here>"

"thankyou for continuing to hold, we will be with you a quickly as possible" 09:43

screaming feedback when they answer & i pick up the phone 09:44 oops! they hung up.

I ring back. Instant answer 09:45 (what's going on here?)

P: no idea when it is back.
C: So it melted?
P: That sums it up.

Hey john, did Dyan say how she got on with that dictionary you gave her?

Sounds familiar. The last time I had to ring them I steeled myself to be on my best behaviour, put a good CD on, put headset on for phone, and then just ignored it until someone answered. I suppose a speaker phone is less likely to intrude on listening to the CD and working...

No, haven't heard from her. Did it install OK?

Have you downloaded the XP service pack (113 MB)? If you want a CD burnt, led me know.

She runs ME, and if she needed an update CD i could do it from here 113MB would only take an hour or 2, but would take forever on her dial up connection. Will talk to her on Thursday when she is over next.

Paradise help desk has sped up, i'm impressed! they used to always be a hour wait!

Wicked! On both counts.
