View Full Version : Can't pinhole M1122 for ssh

03-09-2002, 05:22 PM
I am trying to configure an M1122 to allow ssh access to a linux box on the local network.
The M1122 firmware is Gx1x2230.R04.
I have spent hours with Telecom with no result.
Does anyone know if this is actually possible or am I wasting my time on it.

Even port 80 seems to be suspect..

Can anyone put my problem to rest?

I've not done it before, however I'm very confident it can be done. Map ports 22 and 1019 thru 1023 TCP and UDP to the Linux box and it should work....? ?:|

How do you locate the Nokia from the Internet side, static IP?

If you ask on the ADSL mailing list at http://www.unixathome.org you are likely to find someone who has actually done it or determined it to be impossible to do.

Thanks for the tip, I was only opening port22 and could find no other reference to ports that might need to be opened.
I'll try this and let you know how I got on.
The access is for remote support. We do not have a static IP so detect our Internet IP and pass it on.
You can check out www.no-ip.com, they provide the service to dynamic IP's
I am not a fan, we don't need support often so it's not required.

I have a funny feeling this is not going to work, as I have even had test people stating they can't even ping my IP, including Telecom.
We hire our M1122 and even Telecom are perplexed.

Oh joy.

Stay Tuned

Well, I tried your suggestion, but it did not work.
I even opened every port on the modem, and even that does not work.

I am once again suspecting that the modem is at fault.
That will make the second modem we have tried.

What should have been a simple task has turned into a 4 day failure.

Just another frustrating technical glitch.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway.
