Doesn't your printer have a power button of its own? printers are usually shut down by pushing their own power button

Yes but from where I sit it's 25mm out of reach.

You usually switch them on and off manually. I don't know of anyother way to go about it.

Some HP inkjets will turn ON automatically when you send a print job to them, but no printers as far as I know will turn OFF when the PC shuts down. Unless they are powered from a monitor power socket on the PC, but those are few and far between.

Buy a 4 plug spike suppressor power box for use by computer, monitor, printer, etc with on /off switch and mount it somewhere 25mm closer to you. On shutdown turn off switch. Will also save power as everything will be off rather than in stand by mode.

Strange that its connected via serial, as the 810c is only parallel or USB connection. You have an odd model?

I could live with that
