View Full Version : Safedisk problem

Many thanks to NTK and Jim B for replying to the modem problem.

My son hasn't tried the rnaap thing yet as his brother has been hogging the phone line but will try it and see what comes out.

As you have been so good as to help us I thought I would try and find answer too a problem we thought may be resolved with the purchase of a new CDR-RW drive but sadly not.

My boy purchased Need for Speed III some time back and it installs and runs fine on my Toshiba laptop but will not work on our PC.

The Install always goes smoothly but when we try to play it we are asked to insert the CD and after a few tries the Safedisk copy protection splash screen comes up. (We are using the original disk we bought from DSE - and they were no help when we asked about the problem)

I have heard there have been problems with this Safedisk in the past on other games and there are patches etc which will combat it. I have tried some but with no success.

Can anyone suggest a method to get it to work.

Regards and thanks

As usually this kind of question is in regards to a pirated copy of a CD, noone here will be able to give you a precise answer as to the solution for your problem so as not to promote or teach piracy.

However, you are on the right idea with the patches.

There is a site which specialises in these for legal purposes called gamecopy world. Google will give you the url. If they don't work, then perhaps someone else can shed light on the situation.

Good luck. BTW, what are the OS's in question?

No Graham it is not a pirate copy ( That is unless Dick Smith Electronics are selling these in realistic looking fake packaging). It is a genuine copy of NFS III and will run on my laptop with no problems but not thru my PC.

That's what burns me up and DSE did not want to know....

Owing to the security methods it employs, Safedisk is known to be a bit dodgy with some CD drives. What are the makes / models of the CD(R) drives you have tried?

If you are running XP then Microsoft have released a patch for problems between Safedisc and XP.

I didn't think it was a pirate copy, the point was, giving advice on how to make a pirate copy work (which may fix your prob) would allow others to break the law.

I am glad someone else was able to shed some light. Good luck.
