In a list of say 30 people which is numbered consecutively in one column. Is it possible to remove one name, say number 10, and then renumber the rest?

If you get your 'numbers' by using a formula such as =ROW()+X (where X is an offset to get the number series in the range you want, you can delete rows and have the numbers adjust accordingly.
