We are likely to get about 15 PCs which don't have an O/S. They are all have a P100 TO Mhz133 CPU. I don't know too much about them yet.

Is there any free and stable O/S that will run well on a low spec PC?
Linux?
Can we run terminal services on a PC without windows?

We want to do this very much on the cheap.

I'd be happy if the machines could wordprocess and print to a print server.
Any idea?

As far as I'm aware you can run Linux on lower spec PCs, but you might need to get hold of an older distro to have it run smoothly.

Linux runs well on small machines.

You can make them run as X-Window terminals. The applications can run on a central server. If you just want simple things like WP this could be a good way to go. Erin Salmon was playing with this ... (hint, hint, Erin).

What flavour/version? Finding specs on linux sites is like searching for a needle in a ...

I've looked around a few sites. Not sure where to start.

Hi,
I had this situation recently, my solution was to collect virtually worthless win95 and load them with office 602, no probs, real cheap, really effective.
