How do I get rid of duplicate lines in the msconfig start-up folder. I assume they are there because of uninstalling and re-installing software over a period of time.

Restart.

Hope this isn`t considered too silly a question but, can you explain what "Load Power Profile" is and why it is so important.

The LoadPowerProfile is loaded twice, once before loggin-in and once after.
The first one loads default machine preferences.
The second one is for indivual user preferences.
Leave both of them.
