What email program are you using?

Does it not have an edit-find-replace option, where you can replace < with nothing??

I got a Word macro from this PC World site a couple of years ago called "Fixmail". Not sure if it is still around but I could soon send it to you or copy it out here for you.

You just copy the email contents into Word, run the macro and it deletes the line breaks. I'm sure someone with a bit of nous could alter it to include those << marks as well.

In fact if anyone would like to kindly do it for me I'd be grateful. :-)

Try Ecleaner (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,6492,00.asp)

I use Stripmail as it tidies up paragraphs as well as removing the chevrons. Think it was on an NZ PCWorld disc. Try this site for freeware http://yippee.i4free.co.nz/html/win/internet/email4.htm

You can just go here:

Better than downloading and installing yet another free/shareware program ;)

Hi,
will this Ecleaner work for Windows ME? I went & had a quick look but it does not mention ME. I am currenlty putting on Mailwasher it sounds like it might be useful.
Thanks. :)

I just copy to MS Words, highlight, then go to edit/replace and replace < with a space, it whirrs and clicks the < 's disappear. Then copy and paste where it needs to go.

Not sure what I would do if < was an important component of the email.

There is a program called 'ClipCache Plus' which has the option to clean up text & remove the << from emails.

Apart from this it allows one to save & restore unlimited clips in the clipboard. A very useful feature. Highly recommended.

I second eclean. Had it for yonks. Makes cleaning of for-for-for-for-forwarded emails real easy. Looks like the original with a couple of licks.

I nominate we turn this topic into FAQ,

I have turned off my ">" insert, and use wordpad to find and replace as suggested above, if I need to highlight I reply, go to HTML format use one color for my reply, other color for previous replys

Footnote:
notepad not in dictionary, replys in shorthand format.
