Peer to peer networks rely on a browse master to advertise the presence of computers in the network. When a PC starts - a browser election occurs. One PC then becomes the browse master and holds the information for computers that are connected to the network. This is a common problem and it can take up to an hour for a PC to appear in network neighburhood. As one PC is a laptop - this problem is not going to go away as it is probably in and out of the network.
In a server environment, WINS or DNS overcomes this problem.
You could try putting in a host (DNS) or lmhost file (WINS) (search for lmhosts.sam and rename it to lmhosts) and seeing if that helps. You could also map drives to C drive so that the problem is not so bad.
I would be greatful if anyone has other workarounds for this problem.
