On booting up I get the following message

"Unable to initialize the virus scanning database files"

I am not given any options as to what to do merely accept the message. I have recently updated my NAV and this has only happened since then. I am running Win ME.

Any assistance appreciated

I'm just a humble newbie but suggest you go to Symantec's site and have a look for your message.
