Hi I have just reloaded Britannica 2000 on my PC,after upgrading to 98se from '95 a few months ago, however, now I get an error that says"Unable to start the application, the class files could not be loaded.Unexpected failure."
It worked fine under '95,but not now.Any ideas why not?

Hi Peter

This error usually usually means you have a version of the Microsoft virtual machine
(MS VM) that does not support a necessary Java package.

A PC which doesn't have the correct version of the VM will not be able to run any
application that accesses the Windows Foundation Classes (WFC). The same would be
true of a Java application using a specific Java package that hasn't been installed
on the pc.

See the following URL for an updated MS VM.

Cheers, Babe.

Hi Babe, thanks for the info.About 10 minutes after I posted the question,I suddenly used my brain for a change, and went to the Britannica site, and had a look at the help section, and sure enough, there was my fault listed, and how to fix it.I just downloaded the latest Java files and was up and away.
Thanks anyway for the quick reply, and hopefully I'll use my brain sooner next time.
