View Full Version : Modem voice / fax discrimination

29-05-2002, 10:06 PM
I have an internal 56K Conexant modem running under WIn 98SE.

I use WinFaxPro for faxing.

Faxes out are no problem

Faxes in are rarely received as the fax program says they are a voice call.

Faxes from the Telecom test number come in OK. Faxes from a very few external machines arrive OK but generally when a fax comes in the modem answers the call and then detects it as a voice call - incorrectly - and fails to receive the fax.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

can obtain faxability or something .. a service from telecom.

or u can confiure the s.w. so that when pple get to ur greeting message they press a special number like 1 for voice, 2 for fax. can also program it so if no answer it auto goes to fax. Relating to this s.w i am unfamiliar though ...

Hi Phil,

Had a lot of problems myself of a similar nature. Try configuring the system to recieve Class 2 faxes and play around with the silence options, these are things that have helped me to get better fax recption, although its still not perfect.

I presume Winfax has these settings as I have not used it before.
