I just checked a friends webpage that i helped make by displaying it in IE6, and was disgusted to find the links to .mp3's on the page were handled by IE6's internal .mp3 player, which was nothibg short of rank.

Firstly, as an end user is there anyway of altering the IE6 settings so it will either download, or use winamp? This isn't too big a deal, i use opera, but it would be good to be able to pass this info on!

Secondly, as a web designer, is there any way of changing the way the page is written so that others veiwing the page in IE6 will download the .mp3 after clicking on it's link, rather than see it played badly in thier browser?

There is a setting to disable media playing in IE.

It is somewhere in Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and then scroll to the multimedia section.

What is the URL so I can have a look?

it's in the recordings(?) section
i found the setting you spoke of, unticked it, and unfortunatly, it didn't make a scrap of difference!
