I have just purchased a new Sound system that doesnt have cassette play.

How can I connect the old cassette player so I can save my tapes to my H/d and copy to CD?

Is this legal if I own the cassettes?

Peter, this question has been asked before a few times - so go into the archive of old posts to see the answers (do a search using key words). This popular topic should be highlighted in the next issue of PC World...or maybe it has been already?

Hello Steve,

Run a stereo lead, from your line out on your cassette player, to line in aux on your stereo. At a pinch, a lead can be run from the headphone connection on your cassette player, to the line in, but the quality will probably deteriate.

Next, run a stereo lead from your stereo line out, to the line in, on your computer.

Musicmatch, or mediajukebox are two programs that will record line in.

It can take a fair bit of fiddling and editing to get the best results, but at the end of the day, some quality is governed by the quality of the tapes.

Good luck,
