I have just purchased a new Sound system that doesnt have cassette play.

How can I connect the old cassette player so I can save my tapes to my H/d and copy to CD?

Is this legal if I own the cassettes?

As far as the legalities go, you should be alright as you are supposed to be able to copy music you have purchased for your own use and enjoyment.

As far as doing th copying - you need a cable that goes from the output of your cassete player (line out, or at worst headphone jack).

It then needs to connect to the line-in of your sound card. You can then do the copying using a number of free software titles. If you want really good copies with no pops and clicks, you will probably have to pay for the software to remove them. If you don't mind the quality you get, (it's usually ok), then any no. of free apps will do the job.

My favourite is auxilary input which is an add-on for DMC music converter available at www.dbpoweramp.com.

happy listening.
